The imgur chrome extension adds small icon right next to your address bar which can bring up a smaller version of the imgur gallery.
The icon is also being used to notify you when one of your captions has been commented or someone sent you a message.
In these cases the dot over the “i” changes from green to red.
When clicked on, the icon reveals a small window showing the latest 16 pictures, ready to be clicked on.
Users are not notified about new images via the icon.
Notifications are updated every minute
The gallery is updated once in 5 minutes.
Simple, yet effective.
Its great! now I am so much more productive because I can browse the rest of the internet instead of just refreshing the new images page indefinitely!
A great way to get into the race for top comment! I’ve done nothing for homework tonight and I intend to keep it as such!
At first I loved this extension. But now that it’s been gutted to only notify you when you get a new comment, it’s become absolutely worthless. I come to Imgur for the pictures, not the comments. That’s kind of why it’s called Imgur in the first place.
Effective at what it is supposed to do. Equally as effective at taking all the fun out of Imgur as it is now a race to be first, not be creative.Thanks for helping to ruin one of the few joys in my life.
I think the dot should be red, and then turn to green when there are new images.
