This extension uses permissions that produce the following Chrome messages to perform necessary functions within the extension.
“Read and change all your data on the websites you visit”
Shown for permissions needed for detecting online risks on all types of pages you browse.
“Read your browsing history”
Shown for permissions needed for:
– displaying a block page when risky content is detected.
– displaying site safety rating information reliably during tab manipulations by Chrome or the user.
“Manage your downloads”
Shown for permission needed for removing malicious downloads.
“Change your search settings to: searchsafe.norton.com”
Shown for permissions needed for delivery of search results through the Norton Safe Search service.
“Replace the page you see when opening a new tab.”
Shown for permissions needed for changing the new tab and home page to Norton Safe Search.
“Display notifications”
Shown for permissions needed for showing alerts when important changes happen for protection activity or when authentication is required for certain features.
“New background app added
Norton Safe Search will launch at system startup and continue to run in the background, even once you’ve closed all other Google Chrome windows.”

Why is Yahoo the default search engine? I tried to change it back but it won’t let me. I don’t think that it was the case before. Let me use the search engine that I want.

É uma boa extensão pois nos deixa protegidos reduzindo riscos. Porém o design da Home Page fica horrível com esse fundo todo brando e esses links de sites.
1 – Deveria ter a opção de tema escuro;
2 – Não deveria remover o papel de parede do navegador que o usuário usa;
3 – Os links para os sites que estão logo abaixo da barra de pesquisa poderiam ser editáveis/removidos.
4 – O modo de isolamento que adiciona proteção extra deveria ser permitido adicionar sites manualmente.

While I feel safer having Norton 360 with LifeLock, Safe Search slows everything down and makes working difficult especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I have had it with all the the reloads and getting half of what I’ve paid for. Nothing works as it once did.
Our love affair is coming to an end. Norton Symantec used to be the best – hands down no question five star – now to pay the subscription (PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY) I have to find (BY ACCIDENT) what’s covered – this means I’m subscribed, why is what I pay for not active and the (THE DANCE) to activate it). I have not tiem and very little patience to play ‘catch with your new corporate (YOU’VE DEGRADED YOUR SERVICE, IN FAVOR OF THE NEW GUYS WHO’VE COME ON THE SCENE AND WHOSE MANTRA IS – LET’S MAKE SOME MONEY) arrangements. I used to LOVE this extension but now that it forces me to use Yahoo! search I don’t want it. There was a reason I never used Yahoo! search and now I’m gonna dump this for the same reason.
