Pause breaks the cycle of distraction and mindless browsing and helps you be more focused, productive, and intentional with your technology use.
When you open a distracting website, Pause creates a gentle interruption by displaying a calming green screen. After pausing for five seconds (adjustable), you can choose to continue to the site, remain on the green screen with the site temporarily blocked, or close the tab.
The interruption created by Pause gently nudges you to make informed, intentional decisions about how you are spending your time.
– Pause comes pre-seeded with a list of 50 top distracting websites, which you can add to or edit as needed.
– You can also adjust the length of the Pause time (5 seconds is the default.)
Keep Pause enabled in your browser. It’s a simple and powerful tool to help you control distraction and create more mindful browsing habits that will help you stay focused.

Excellent extension. It’s helped me so much during the WFH quarantine. Really great trigger for mindfulness, as it reminds me when I’ve deviated off task. And the green screen and the verbal reminder to pause is a good opportunity for my to breathe. Love this, will recommend it to all of my family & friends. Keep you the great work, team!
It is a good extension but, Only 5 mins max time pause? That is too little time
Exactly what I want
I wish they put a plant tree mode, like the extension Forest.
Great feature! I purchased the freedom blocker too but, was able to access the websites if I erased/cleared the url. I am now using pause, limit, and focus together and they’re very effective.
Pause is great now that I can extend the ‘pause time’ upto 300 seconds. I started off with 15, went on to 30, and have now extended it to 45 seconds. Having to wait for such a long duration to access a website deters me from opening it, so I get back to doing what matters. It’d be great if you guys included some ‘locked mode’ kinda feature for pause that wouldn’t allow us to change the pause time for a certain period. Highly recommend this and the other extensions as well!
Great trigger for mindfulness to stop you getting sucked into sites
Excellent extension.
Do you have this functionality for the Android app? I would like to buy them if so
please allow users to disable don’t pause this site for 24 hours option. Thank you.
Best extension of this kind on the web store!
Отличное продуманное элегантное решение в борьбе с отвлечениями.
I like it so far. Only complaint is that I accidentally clicked “Dont pause X for 24 hours” and couldn’t figure out how to undo that setting. I had to reinstall the extension.
Helped me a lot. I blocked all social-media for 2 weeks. Now I don’t have as strict rules, I can use some social-media like youtube, but only for productive things. I still keep this on at 20 seconds, so I have to wait for a while, and think weather I relly need to go on the website or not.
Amazing service 🙂
Limit is a pretty good blocker site, and has a preexisting list of sites to block, which is pretty handy and is accurate, so you don’t have to add many of the sites. I like the calming green screen that shows when I tested it out. The only problem is that the amount of time which you can pause the site is pretty limited, and will wear off, so you have to constantly return to the app if you want to update blockage functions. I still think it’s a good and functional app given its free price.
-Really loving this extension so far. It’s not a traditional site blocker, but it gives the user the choice, which I’ve found is giving me more motivation to stay away from time-wasting sites.
-The statistics gives me a nice visual – it would be nice for the statistics to also include the # of times I actually continue on to the “blocked” website after pausing the designated time.
-By default, this extension does not work in incognito mode for chrome. There’s a work-around to this: go to “Manage Extensions”, click on “Details” under Pause, and there’s a setting to “Allow in Incognito.” This will completely block (not pause) your list of Paused Websites when you use Incognito.
I really like this extension because it isn’t super harsh. No passwords (that might be forgotten) or locked settings (that are difficult/impossible) to change. This extension keeps me from spending time mindlessly checking and re-checking the same sites while maintaining the functionality of my computer. Just what I was looking for!
Is it possible to re-pause a website if you accidentally clicked to unpause for 24 hours?
Awesome, it really helps
Very useful, simple and effective. You guys did great. Thank you!
Great extension that everyone should use to stay on track and avoid costly distractions! 🙂
I like this. instead of hard forcing.. asking people to pause and think before continuing.
Was working well for a moment. But then I decided to watch one work related training video on youtube and made an exception. Since that moment pause is not blocking youtube and I have no idea how to restore it. I tried removing and re-adding youtube to the list. Did not help.
Really liking the experience so far.
I wish that you can configure to pause ALL websites.
