Take control of your tabs:
– Rename tab
– Change tab icon
– Pin tab
– Prevent tab closing
– Unique tab
– Mute tab
You have to define your rules from the Options page. Quick rename can be done by right-clicking anywhere in the page and click on “Rename Tab”.

About Permissions: All websites are required as the extension needs to update each visited website to do its job. I don’t store anything about you, your rules are saved on your computer.
The Options page contains a Google Analytics script to help me to know how this page is used. It’s totally anonymized. Feel free to contact me on the GitHub project.
It need a more convenient way for rename tabs, for example something like “Tab ReTitle” has.
In my workplace, we have many different environments that I need to work on at the same time. This tab modifier allow me to color coded all different env with different color and keep all the opened tabs clean and tidy.
Chrome release the “Group” feature so if the icons’ color can be synced to google’s choice, it will be perfect. (yes, you can add them manually, but it still take some time, right?)
Not working in Incognito mode 🙁
Nice extension. 👏🏻
Could be used in unlikely situations such as the one I described here with LinkedIn changing its favicon every minute!!

Protecting a tab doesn’t seem to request confirmation when closing…not sure why…any ideas please? Otherwise it is great! Though it would be nice to be able to pin a tab and keep it’s title if that is a possibility?
This is awesome. However both contains and RegExp do not work for me with groups like in examples:
Detection: Contains
URL fragment: github.com
Title: {title} | $2 by $1
URL matcher: github[.]com/([A-Za-z0-9_-]+)/([A-Za-z0-9_-]+)
Detection: Contains
URL fragment: mail.google.com
Title: @0 | $0
Title matcher: [a-z]*@gmail.com
URL matcher: [a-z]*.google.com
that is the best one through 6 similar extensions I’ve tried, please add a sync function, to google drive if possible. thanks for your work!
I loved the idea of this extension, I happily named dozens of tabs, streamlining a lot of the assignment grading that I need to do. HOWEVER: I saved all of these as bookmarks (that reflected my custom naming) in several folders. When I returned to one of these bookmark folders and rightclicked on it – selecting “Open All (20) In A New Window” – Chrome created a new window with all of these tabs again but ••without•• all of my manual name customizations. Is it possible for your extension to apply a name that is more permanent and survives a Chrome bookmarking operation? Or is this out of your hands? Thanks you, though, for a cool tool like this.
Worthless,doesn’t work on youtube
This is the best one of these types that I’ve found – Clean, well explained interface with extraordinary flexiblity in wildcarding/generating dynamic titles – Giving us the option of CSS selectors, input title regex, & url regex is excellent.
Did exactly what I needed it to (helped me rename tabs based on a url query string on a site where the same page was used to query different inputs) in no time flat
It’s pretty good but I got this so I could distinguish from multiple tabs with the same URL and it keeps automatically naming them the same thing. But I want them different names. Other than this issue it’s pretty good
Can there be an option in “URL fragment” for capsensitive? Thats it other than that this extiension does alot more than I needed it for and all the features are super useful too!
Ok, so the extension is great. It does all I need it to do and that’s exceptional in and of itself. The only change (or addition) I would like to see is when you right click on a page and click on the “rename tab” button, it would open up as a popup (as it already does) but with more options than just to rename the tab. For example, let’s say I was on a NYT Science article and I want to rename the tab and change the icon. With the current right click option, I can’t do that, but I assume that this shouldn’t be that big of a addition, just a minor one. But overall, the extension is great!
Easy to use and powerful, I like it very much.
Extremely useful and simple to use! I consistently have 3-4 similar tabs open and couldn’t differentiate between them until using this extension.
This is an excellent extension to work with tabs, especially for developers. As many developers have, I have the project site’s different versions: dev, test and production. I use this tab modifier to add the web site’s hostname into the title, such as:
[dev] My Project Site
[test] My Project Site
[prod] My Project Site
Just too good!
great way to distinguish similar tabs with your own styles. I get mine from https://icons8.com/
Great, it has helped me a lot in my daily routines!
Useful tool, I like it!
“Sometimes, you want to inject variables inside the title” – how do I know what code I need to use? The webpage current title is ” Order #54756 – CRM – powered by ABC CORP” How do I change this to “#54756 – CRM” ?
Идеально помогает визуально различить вкладки с разными запросами на одном и том же сайте
Exactly what I wanted.
Hello,
Oui, cette extension est remarquable, exceptionnelle autant par sa conception que son efficacité,
Elle ne pose aucun problème même pour le nouvel EDGE (Chromium).
Bravo. Bravo… en espérant une longue vie à “Tab Modifier”.
Cordialement.
Unfortunately you can only apply one rule to a tab. I want to setup one rule that sets the title and one rule that sets the icon for example.
Very good and simple! Perfect for web development when comparing production and development versions!!!
