Disable Autoplay for YouTube™ is a lite extension that lets you easily stop YouTube videos from auto-playing.
Toolbar button serves as ON|OFF switch for this addon. In other words, you can simply click on the toolbar button to enable or disable this addon. The icon will change color accordingly. Green color shows an active state and dark gray color shows a disabled state.
Simply add this addon to your browser and start browsing YouTube. With this addon, videos are stopped automatically from playing when you open them. There is an option in the settings page to play or pause videos when a tab is focused or hidden (unfocused). These two options are not active by default. This addon works for all YouTube videos whether they are embedded or not. However, you can disable this feature from the settings page.

Works very well for me. Very useful extension if you don’t want youtube to autoplay, as Google seem to have progressively removed the ability to do this from their own settings. Easy to switch on and off with the toolbar button and simple option selection by right-clicking the toolbar button. One minor glitch is that youtube channel pages sometimes fail to display when the extension is enabled, but a simple workround if this happens is shift-refresh.

Doesn’t work at all. Click on a youtube video, then it plays automatically.
Every third or fourth time a new page is opened, the page won’t load. But when pages do load, the video doesn’t play, so I guess it works when it’s working.

Works as intended but it stops the vid at the BEGINNING of the video. What I need is when sharing my lessons with students to stop the video at the point where I share the lesson. Youtube “Share” you can copy paste a url that puts you at point on vid. If I try use this extension and youtube share exact spot on vid this extension will not let me go spot on vid.

То, что надо. При загрузке страницы, видео не ставится автоматически на паузу…
Оно даже не пытается запуститься! На месте видео видна картинка оформления видео – та, которая обычно видна только на миниатюрах в списке видеороликов. А когда готов посмотреть видео – нажимаешь F для полного экрана и пробел. Установил, проверил – пока работает стабильно.

Did exactly what I wanted. However, if you are on desktop and go back to a previous page it still allows the sound from the previous video to play for several seconds. A minor annoyance, but way much better then a YT vid playing as soon as I click the thumbnail.

No longer works, in a catastrophic manner. It blanks out every page you open on YouTube. Major bug.
The extension no longer works. The video is stopped, but then it is completely unable to resume. YouTube just displays an error message. This extension is broken on all my browsers on my Win10 machine and all my browsers on my Ubuntu machine.
IT STOPPED WORKING 3 DAYS AGO .. YOUTUBE NOW GIVES ME AN ERROR ON THE VIDEO!
Not often i’ll leave a review but I wanted to get away from Magic Actions which had started causing chrome to crash and this has done the trick. Thank you!

As of 10.1.2019 this extension works nearly flawlessly. the video might run for 1-3 seconds, but it’s so much better than an autoplaying ad.
