This extension will make mailto: links open in a Gmail compose window. Nothing more, nothing less.
* Supports Google Apps accounts
* Works on javascript-inserted links
* Includes option of working on bcc: fields
* Option to open in new window rather than default tab
It supports to, cc, subject, and body (and optionally bcc) fields, and is made to be compatible with RFC2368, the mailto: scheme standard.
It doesn’t modify the mailto:address itself, so you can still see the link in the status bar when you hover over it, which allows you to easily read the target at a glance.
Please note, some report the need to restart the browser for it to work. I have never had to, and can’t figure out why it would be necessary, but if it’s not working after installing, try a restart.

* Add an install message to make clear that reloading each tab is necessary

Works fine for me for pages on the web, but not for links in files stored locally (e.g. an HTML file on my Windows computer desktop).
Update Oct 2020 – Works in my Google Chrome v85. (You have to restart browser after adding this extension.) You also may need to go into Windows default apps protocols and change your Mail to Chrome or a different browser I guess.
Funktioniert prima auf dem aktuellen Chrome Browser und Windows 10. Vielen Dank
I was hoping that this extension would cause mailto links to open in gmail. It does not do that. It does not do anything as far as I can tell.
Excellent! Opening Apple Mail every time I clicked on a mailto: link was annoying. This works much better.
Give an option to remove from Menu bar. This app would be perfect if it had that!
I even tried uninstalling your app but the Menu item persisted, so I am reporting this bug to Google.
good
Has stopped working
Doesn’t work with Brave 0.67.124, which, like Chrome, is built on open-source Chromium.
On Windows 10, clicking a mailto: link launches the native Mail app.
Simple et efficace. Fait ce qu’on lui demande sur vivaldi.
Thank baby jesus
It either works or it doesn’t and right now it doesn’t.
Works in Windows 10 for me!
worked without a hitch.
Work as should work, all well!
Works well here on 64 bit Windows (was redirecting to Inbox, now GMAIL).
I want mailto links to open in a new window otherwise you could just set up the Chrome protocol handler (which stupidly doesn’t open it in a new window).
Needs to get rid of auto-popup installation page that plagues chrome store extensions. I log into many computers, and get bombarded with intrusive popups from many extensions being installed, and this one is part of the problem.
i wanna know why when i click on an email link to send an email it opens TWO windows every time this has been happening forever!
Works for me!
good
Works fine. To install, I set windows 10 default mail app to be chrome, then installed the extensions and refreshed the website with the mailto link.
OK, but would be 50 times better if you could choose which account to use.
It doesnt work
