FB Message Downloader
Use this extension to download your FB messages.
To start downloading, please follow this steps:
Step 1: Open the conversation in the full mode using the following link: https://www.facebook.com/messages/t
Step 2: Select the conversation that you want to download.
Step 3: Press the Message/Chat Downloader extenstion icon in the address bar.
Step 4: Select the date range you want and press start download.
Note:
– Make sure that you don’t leave or close the page until the download is finished.
– Depending on the number of messages the download might take from seconds to several minutes.
– When the download finishes the page will be updated to only show your selected conversation.
Step 5: To save your message, go to File->Save Page As and save it.
Note:
– Make sure to select ‘Webpage, Complete’ as the format.
– The saved file should be opened using Firefox only.

Now works with the updated, late 2020, FB Messenger!
Great for gathering and saving evidence from an abusive situation, or simply collecting memoires from loved ones. This extension works wonders, and is fast! It saves gifs, videos, and pictures sent throughout the messages, as well!
FEATURE REQUEST: to be able to carry over “chat reacts” and signify when they have “replied” to something directly. These are both semi-new features on FB, and would be great to have added here as well.

Used to work great for me, but with the new Facebook layout and current versions of Chrome, this appears to be completely broken 🙁 Very sad

This extension would never work the way the How To video showed. Was never given the option to choose a date range. It unfortunately seems useless, in my opinion.

El programa era bueno hasta el 2019, se podía descargar y guardar en pdf nuestras conversaciones de messenger, después hicieron modificaciones en la presentación de la extensión (estadísticas en mensajes enviados y recibidos), luego surgió fallas al guardar las conversaciones en pdf (solo captura una hoja del total descargado) Envié un correo al patrocinador/creador de la extensión acerca de las falencia y no ha tenido la cortesía de responder a pesar de haber colaborado comprando un coffe para ayudar a mantener esta página. LAMENTABLE UNA DECEPCIÓN…
Doesn’t work – I follow the steps, click the extension and … nothing. Waste of time.
It did absolutely nothing.
No longer working. This is now the only way to search facebook posts, to make a log then search it. Please fix it to go back to 5 stars.
It used to be very greate app for saving messages! But recently it doesn’t work neither on Facebook nor Messenger. It does not show the pop up window to choose the time period and download option. Please fix it! <3

It’s a great app and has worked in the past for me excellently, but it is not working now since Facebook’s new layout perhaps. I would love if it would get updated and fixed!

The first time I did it It worked but now it’s not working, also this only works on
facebook com/messages and not messenger so just a tip.

With the current 2020 version of messenger, this does not seem to work. I get only a blank page and nothing else.
