Readme is a text-to-speech extension that uses advanced deep learning techniques to synthesize natural human speech in more than 40 languages.
In addition to Standard TTS voices, Readme offers Neural Text-to-Speech (NTTS) voices that deliver advanced improvements in speech quality through a new machine learning approach.
With tons of text-to-speech voices, including those provided natively by the browser, as well as by text-to-speech cloud service providers such as Google WaveNet, you will be able to improve your productivity!
For instance, you can listen to a document while doing something else, if you find it easier to retain the information you’ve heard, or if you want to sense-check something you’ve written.
Readme can read aloud the content of any web pages, pdfs & ebooks with natural sounding voices. It can be enormously helpful for anyone who’s visually impaired or has a condition like dyslexia that makes reading on screens tricky. It can also help overcome language barriers for people who read a language but don’t speak it, or are in the process of learning.
To use Readme, simply navigate to the web page you want to read, then click the Readme icon on the Chrome menu. In the sidebar that opens, click the play button, after which automatic playback of the text contained on the page will begin.
You may select the text you want to read before activating the extension. Right-clicking on the selected text will provide you with yet another context-menu option to activate read aloud.
The design of Readme comes with a user-friendly interface and a wide range of settings that are clean and easy to use. To change the voice, reading speed, pitch, or enable text highlighting, go to the Options page.
The default settings work well for quick tasks but spend a little time exploring the settings menu and you’ll find options to change the language, hotkey, and set custom interface colors.

its lovely, the only thing that would be even better i that if the robot was actually reading the full sentence. i might as well just read it my self even if its hard. it really sucks, don’t get it : )

Pretty good app. I could suggest that the text entering- copying, pasting, and replacing process be easier.. it’s a bit awkward. Beyond that, I think the vocalizing is pretty good and the accent range agreeable.

Thank you so much , I have glaucoma, and could not read directly from my PC, this extension is helping me a great deal.
It often just stops mid-way through reading. It won’t say the line unless I click it again. Other than that it’s a pretty good extension.
Difficult to work. Then went crazy flashing through different screens. Removed it and reloaded it, and it would not work at all.

使う前の準備
１．chromeのアドレスバー(URLを入力するところ)の隣にReadme – Text to Speech Readerのアイコンを表示させる。アドレスバーの隣のアイコンで白いぐにゃぐにゃしたアメーバのようなアイコンを押すと拡張機能のアイコンの表示・非表示を指定できる。ピンのようなアイコン(固定と出る)をクリックすると、ピンに色がつきます。そうするとアドレスバーの隣にアイコンが出てきます。
２．Readme – Text to Speech Readerのアイコンをクリックして右側にこのアプリの画面を表示させる。
３．右上に歯車のマークがあるのでそれをクリック。
４．Voice nameのところをJapaneseにする。
Japanese(Bianca)がおすすめ。

Google日本語
Microsoft Haruca Desktop – Japanese 女性
がある。
Google日本語はJapanese(****)の誰かの声で読み上げられます。誰になるかはその時によります。
５．testボタンを押して、読み上げがうまく行くことを確認する。
６．ボリュームバーが三つあるが、一番上が読み上げの速さなので１．２ぐらいにするのがおすすめ。
７．右上の×で画面を閉じる。
８．アイコンをクリックして画面を閉じる。
インストールした後は必ず歯車の設定から声を指定してtestボタンを押してサンプルテキストを読ませないとうまく動きません。
使い方
１．読み上げをしたいページに移動
２．Readme – Text to Speech Readerのアイコンをクリックして右側にこのアプリの画面を表示させる。
３．表示させた画面の下に再生ボタンがあるのでそれを押すと、ホームページの文字を読みこんでくれる。
４．スパム防止のための認証をする。画像に表示される英字を4文字ほど入力するだけ。ない時もある。
５．読み上げが始まる。
途中から読み上げさせたい場合は、右側の画面に文章を読み込ませた後、一時停止ボタンを押してから文章の読み上げたい場所をクリックする。
たまに制限がかかりますが、警告の画面を消して右側の画面の読んでいた文章をクリックして認証をし直すとまた読み上げを始めます。
ちょっとバグで画面が変になることがあります。スクロールが暴走します。私の場合は放っておくか、再読み込みをしています。
ホームページを読み込む前の画面に【Input text manually】というボタンがありますが、
それをクリックすると、自分で文字入力した文章を読み上げてくれます。

Super helpful, also the voices don’t sound too robotic when you play with the speed.
Amazing text reader.
At first I was a bit confused and considered removing it but its very simple, all you have to do is press read and it will read ANY text on your page as long as it’s not in image form. For example, if you uploaded an image with writing on it, it won’t read it, so keep that noted.
There is a variety of voices and speeds and it reads texts efficiently without the pain of copy and pasting, though there is an option for it.
The only draw-back is the settings, atleast to me, was a bit complicated and confusing, which is my only draw back, but other than that, amazing text reader I would highly recommend.

Mariska – Says double consonants too short and presses the vowel after the double consonant. That’s a mistake, but I accept it.
Anna – As if she has a palate problem, but she handles double consonants well.
I’d rather have a male voice.

It’s okay but it doesn’t sound human. It sounds very robotic and it doesn’t let you select which voice you want only Google Voice. I also don’t care for it to read any paragraphs with bulleted items. It reads line by line skips the bulleted lists comes back and focuses on what it determines is key words then reads the bulleted list (at last!) This can be a pain when studying courses that have bulleted items. It also doesn’t do columns that well. Let’s put it this way if you have line by line reading required this is the app for you. If only the other hand you have college instructions with indentations, columns, or formatting of any kind then this is not the reader for you.
It doesn’t work, I click on the pinned icon and nothing happens, big let down.
