Modern browsers such as Google Chrome can tell websites where you’re located in order to provide location-aware functionality. Your geographic location is obtained through various means (eg. using wifi data) and is often highly accurate, which can be a violation of your privacy.
This extension allows you to enjoy the useful applications of geolocation while protecting your privacy. It does so by reporting a fake location to websites, obtained by adding a certain amount of “noise” to the real location. The noise is randomly selected in a way that ensures that the real location cannot be inferred with high accuracy.
Three configurable privacy levels are provided. The higher the privacy level the greater the amount of noise, which gives better privacy at the expense of a less accurate fake location. This can be configured per-website for flexibility: a more accurate location can be provided for driving directions than for a weather forecast. There’s also an option to use a fixed location, instead of adding noise to the real one. This offers the best privacy (no dependence on the real location at all), at the cost of very low accuracy.
Note: your location can be also detected from your IP address, but usually with poor accuracy. Location Guard protects the accurate location revealed through the JavaScript API.

Работает. Не сразу, но внизу Гугл выдачи вместо “ваше расположение по ip” сменилось на “с вашего устройства” и пишет указанное мною место – и выдача поменялась

Instructions are NOT clear even in the demo.
Here’s the problem. Extensions like LOCATION Guard will work to partly spoof your location on non sophisticated websites. Most can easily detect your location by your IP address. For example, running a test on IP/DNS, your IP address is shown and your location based on that.
When you go to sites like deviceinfo me, you will see your IP address which is very close to your actual location and the spoofed location. Therefore, there’s nothing you can do to spoof your [actual] location unless you use a VPN and spoof your NETWORK location — this add on does NOT spoof your IP address location. Make sense, children?
Gone crazy fighting with the wrong location in chrome. Nothing did work, not the default location in Windows, not the default location in Chrome. After some time the wrong location always returned. This extension helped me so much, thank you for that!
Seems to work OK, I guess. I had a problem at first because even if you set your ‘Fixed Location’, it doesn’t change the ‘Default Level’ to ‘Fixed Location’. So, even though you chose a fixed location on the other side of the planet from you, your location is still coming up as very close to where you are – until you figure out what’s up and change that setting. Apparently 95% of the bad reviews on here are due to that misunderstanding. It’s a huge UX design flaw, so sorry guys but definitely 2 stars off.

Does exactly what I needed it to do. However, selecting a location from a map over and over in some cases is the most optimal way of changing your location (especially if you need to do it several times). I wish there was a way to “SAVE” fixed locations and give you options to select previously saved Fixed Locations. If I had that…. perfection.
Works great – only changes location. You’ll need a VPN to mask your IP. It doesn’t change your IP. Options are a bit fiddly, select Options -> default to Fixed Location. Works fine.

Literally took me 1 minute to work, it actually worked! I set my fixed location to Rome and it acts just as good as a VPN that costs like SO MUCH! Literally better than Dashlane VPN.
